SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS FOR 2009-2010 ACADEMIC YEAR 
FORTY $1,000 JTMGBSF SCHOLARSHIPS

THE APPLICANT MUST:

1. 1. Be an African American United States citizen, resident of South Florida, enrolled in a graduate business degree program (master's or doctoral), at a Florida university during the Fall, Winter, Spring, or Summer term of the 2008-2009 academic year. The applicant must plan to pursue a professional career in South Florida. South Florida includes Broward, Miami-Dade, Collier, Charlotte, Desoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Indian River, Lee, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, Manatee, Martin, Monroe, St. Lucie and Sarasota counties.
   
2. Submit a two-page essay entitled:
   

   "Why I Should Be Awarded A Jacki Tuckfield Memorial
   Graduate Business Scholarship"

   Jacki Tuckfield (MBA, ’96, CGPA 3.97, Nova Southeastern University), aspired to be the Chief Executive Officer of a company dedicated to a policy of diversity in hiring, promoting and retaining its employees. Reared by parents of different racial heritage, Jacki perceived diversity as an asset for strengthening the fabric of human relationships. She aspired to a better life through academic, spiritual and professional achievements. Her leadership potential was undeniable. This two-page essay is an extremely important part of the application process; therefore, read Jacki’s "legacy" and "essence" pages of the 35-page www.jackituckfield.org to insure that your essay is relevant. Title your essay and affix your name to it. See page five for an example of a 1999 winning essay.
   
3. Provide official undergraduate and graduate academic transcripts from institutions attended.
   
4. Provide a letter of recommendation from the dean/assistant dean or a faculty member from the last school you attended.
   
5. Provide a current resume.
   
6. Provide a color passport photo (in executive business attire) for inclusion on the website (www.jackituckfield.org), the Awards Program and other publicity documents.
   
7. Provide a completed application form.

1. The application form, essay, transcripts, color passport photo, letter of recommendation and resume must be submitted together, postmarked by Sunday, May 31, 2009.
   
2. Telephone interviews may be conducted Wednesday, June 3, 2009 through Wednesday, June 10, 2009.
   
3. Winners will be notified by Monday, June 22, 2009.
   
4. Recipients will be honored at The Twelfth Annual JTMGBSF Awards Program in August of 2009. The scholarship check, made co-payable to the recipient and the educational institution in which he/she is enrolled, will be issued by Dade Community Foundation at The Scholarship Awards Program.
